He is survived by: his spouses, Alice Larson and Ethelyn Smith of Saranac; his children, Greg Smith (Carmen) of Ionia, Peter Smith (Laurie) of Ionia, Sarah Jones (Karl) of Saranac and Martha Guernsey (Wayne) of Ionia; his siblings, Janis Bateman of Ionia and Rolland Smith (JoAnn) of Indiana; and his grandchildren, Jessica Dinka (Paul) of Lowell, Emily Murillo (Ricky), Sam Smith (Holly), Jacob Smith (Aimee), Melissa DeBoer (Jason), Katie Woudwyk (Peter), Crystal Blood (Justin), Eric Guernsey (Heather), Ryan Guernsey (Carey), Kevin Guernsey (Angie), Adam Guernsey (Abbey) and Sadie Guernsey.
