He was predeceased by: his wife Carolyn Betz; and his brother Paul R. Betz. He is survived by: his parents, Matthew John and Lillie Bertha Betz (Diehl); his wife Carolyn Hesselbein; his children, Janet Tailford (Michael), Ann Higgins (Larry), David Betz (Suzanne) and Mark Betz (Carrie); his grandchildren, Alissa Durbin, Evan Tailford, Amy McCalla, Kelly Allgeier, Lydia Betz, Madeline Betz, Ella Betz and Levi Betz; and his great grandchildren, Kameryn Durbin, Henry Allgeier and Andrew McCalla.
