He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Karl and Louise Karl (Reiter); and his brother Robert Karl. He is survived by: his wife Mary; his sons, Brian (Sarah) and Steven; his grandchildren, Louisa Karl and Jamison Karl; and his sisters, Carolyn Martin (Don) and Rosemary Jarmon.
