He was predeceased by: his wife Judith Kay Schafer; and his sons, Tommy and Johnny. He is survived by: his parents, Leonard Schafer and Elizabeth Schafer; his sister Mary Fagan; his children, Kathleen, Kevin (Amanda) and Timothy (Shelley); and his grandchildren, Nicholas, Jacob Mitchell, Lyla Schafer, Lincoln Schafer, Avery, Thomas John and Luke Schafer.
