He was predeceased by: his father George; his wife Doris Patricia VanRiper (Pat); his sisters, Evelyn Jacobs and Gloria Condon; and his grandson Brent Stephenson.

He is survived by: his daughter Karen Hackenberg (Curly); his grandchildren, Christina Doucette (Keith) and Andrea Mason (Aaron); his great grandchildren, Barrett, Colton, Jeriah and Boaz Mason; his daughter Marianne Plaunt (Jim); his grandson Adam Plaunt (Jasmine); his great grandchild Madison; his sons, Jason Plaunt and Larry Rice (Deb); his granddaughters, Rachael, Sarah and Hannah Rice (Avin Bommakanti); his daughter Barbara Dobbs (Allen); his granddaughter Nicole Smothermon (Len); his great grandchildren, Shay, Grady and Zane; and also, Aiden and Zephyr.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 11th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, April 12th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Centreville United Methodist Church (305 E Main St, Centreville, MI 49032). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 12th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.

Memorial donations may be given to the Centreville United Methodist Church, 304 E. Main St., Centreville, MI 49032.
