He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Schafer and Dora Schafer (Schueller); his significant other Susanne Schafer; his son Randy Schafer; and his grandson Brian Nicholas Schafer.
He is survived by: his children, Barb (Louis Longoria), Steve Schafer of St. Johns, Dale (Donna Schafer), Brian (Sandra Schafer) and Becky (Jeremy Swender); his grandchildren, Justin Longoria (Megan), Jacob Longoria, Alissa Longoria (Robert), Chelsea Rudat (Zach), Michael Schafer, Samantha Schafer, Ashley Schafer, Matthew Romanek, Brandon Romanek, Brandon Swender, Joshua Swender and Katelyn Swender (Jacob); his great grandchildren, Kaden, Easton, Liam and Charlie; and his caregivers, Jennifer, Stan, Tina, Karla and Pam. He is also survived by his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
