He was predeceased by: his parents, Curtis Chitwood and Audry Chitwood. He is survived by: his girlfriend Teresa Regan; his son Douglas Chitwood (Tina); and his siblings, Ron Chitwood (Cindy), Betty Brainerd (Larry), Dave Chitwood (Lisa) and Dan Chitwood (Rita). He is also survived by nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
