He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Riedel and Irene Riedel. He is survived by: his wife Carol Riedel; his daughter Sara Volpe (Jason); his granddaughters, Anne, Margaret and Elisabeth Volpe; his niece Jill Stockwell (John); and his siblings, Shirley Kessler and David Riedel (Carolyn). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
