Geraldine Theresa Nowakowski Obituary

Nowakowski, Geraldine age 90. April 28, 1933 to July 16, 2023. Beloved wife of John. Loving mother to Michael (Janice) Nowakowski, Teresa Shipley, Jacqueline (Christian) Babini, Thomas (Marisela) Nowakowski, David (Lisa) Nowakowski, and John (Noelle) Nowakowski. She was blessed with 20 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Dear sister to Shirley Brothers and the late Patricia Krause. Predeceased by her parents Leo and Regina Madajski and her in laws Stanley and Leanora Nowakowski. Geraldine will be missed by many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Shug and Andrea for their special care of Gerri.

Geraldine Theresa Nowakowski, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and woman of strong faith, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2023, at the age of 90. Born on April 28, 1933, Geraldine lived a life filled with boundless love, laughter, and devotion to her cherished family.

Gerri (as she preferred to be called) shared an incredible journey of love and companionship with her devoted husband of 67 years, John Stanley Nowakowski. Their enduring marriage was a true testament to their commitment, mutual respect, and unwavering love for one another.

As a mother, Gerri was an eternal source of comfort, support, and guidance to her children. Her unconditional love and fierce dedication to her family served as the foundation upon which they built their lives. She also got great pleasure in cooking and loved to watch her family eat.

Grandma" as she was affectionately called by her twenty grandchildren and "Busia" by her twenty great grandchildren, was an endless source of joy and inspiration. Her presence filled every family gathering with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Gerri's deep devotion to her family was a powerful force that brought them closer and created a bond that will withstand the test of time.

Gerri loved going up north to their place at Houghton Lake and loved exploring other areas up north. She was a great fan of being outdoors. Gerri was brilliant at playing classics on the piano and spent countless nights playing for family and friends, which brought her great joy. In her younger years, amongst other interests, she loved to play cards, make pinecone wreaths, took up silk flower arranging and was on a bowling league with her wonderful friend group.

Gerri had a contagious laugh and an infectious smile that could brighten even the darkest days. Her playful spirit and the joy she radiated endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Gerri's kind heart and gentle nature touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impression that will be cherished forever.

A woman of strong Catholic faith, Gerri found solace and guidance through her spiritual journey. Her belief in the power of prayer and the love of God provided her strength, comfort, and hope throughout her life. Gerri's faith was not only a personal guide but a legacy she passed down to her family, leaving an indelible mark on their lives.

As our hearts mourn the loss of Geraldine Theresa Nowakowski, let us also celebrate the beautiful life she lived, the precious memories she leaves behind, and the profound impact she had on all who knew her. She has left an irreplaceable void in our lives, but her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us.

A funeral service to honor the life of Geraldine Theresa Nowakowski will be held at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, where she found solace and peace in her faith. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital memory of Geraldine.

Gerri's legacy will forever live in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. May her soul find eternal peace in the embrace of her Heavenly Father and may our memories of her be a guiding light in our lives.
