He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Burgess and Judith Burgess; his father-in-law Jim Swartz; and his brother-in-law Michael Smith. He is survived by: his wife Shelley Smith; his children, Allison, Emily Burgess and Kevin Kapuscinski (Brittany); his grandchildren, Michael Kapuscinski and Lauryn Fath; his mother-in-law Susan Swartz; and his siblings, Wendy Naessens (William), Richard Burgess (Jacqueline), Jeffrey Burgess (Tammy) and Steve Burgess (Tracie). He is also survived by his dogs and spending time with his children, granddaughter, and grandson.
The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 10:00 a. m. to 11:00 a. m. Under the current Michigan Department of Health and Human Services guidelines masks must be worn and social distancing practiced.
