He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesses Alvarez and Gertrude Alvarez (Walters); his son Kevin; and his siblings, Wally, Jessie and Elaine Frost.
He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Guthrie; his children, Phillip Alvarez (Colleen) of St. Charles, Bryan Alvarez of Chesaning, Louie Alvarez of Marion, John Alvarez Jr. of Marion and Emily Alvarez of Brant; his sisters, Erma Erdman (Dick) of Chesaning and Rosie Good (Randy) of Marion; and his sister-in-law Esther Alvarez of Chesaning. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; three great grandchildren.
