He was predeceased by: his parents, James McSweyn and Mary McSweyn (Sheltraw). He is survived by: his wife Bernice Crites; his children, Cindy McGinnis (Chris), Greg McSweyn (Lisa), Cathy Gage (Mick) and Cheryl Mayle (Lester); and his siblings, Ann Bellenbaum, Donald "Duke McSweyn, Sharon Walker (Don), Thomas "Skin" McSweyn (Linda) and Along. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
