He is survived by: his parents, Roger Brookens and Karen Brookens (Kyser); his wife Melissa Brookens; his children, Taylor and Colton; his siblings, Kim Brookens (Jen), Julia Schwarzkopf (Hans), Joel Brookens (Hope) and Anna Spindler (Erik); his brother-in-law Nathan Gillespie; his parents-in-law, Kenneth and Luann Gillespie; and his pet Jake. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
