Marjorie E. Stempek Obituary

Marjorie Eleanor Stempek, a beacon of love and generosity, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025, in Saginaw, Michigan. Born on September 7, 1938, in Bay City, Michigan, she was the cherished daughter of the late Lawrence and Theresa (Gibson) Meyette. Marjorie's life was a testament to her faith-filled spirit and her unwavering commitment to her family and community. In the winter of 1956, Marjorie united in marriage with the love of her life, Donald Stempek, forging a partnership that would be filled with devotion until his passing on June 15, 2014.

Together, they nurtured a family that would be Marjorie's pride and joy. She leaves behind a legacy through her loving children: Randall (Leslie) Stempek, Lawrence Stempek, Renee (Dean) Rabish, and a daughter in law Kathleen Stempek. Her role as a grandmother was one, she cherished deeply, guiding and inspiring her grandchildren: Christopher (Kim) Stempek, Jessica (Bobby) Roesner, Rebecca (Charles) Purtill, Randall (McKenna) Stempek, Lauren Stempek, Matthew (Stacy) Rabish, Darren (Kaila) Rabish, and Justin and Nicholas Rabish.

Her influence will continue to flourish through her 11 great-grandchildren. Marjorie's siblings, Carolyn (Jim) Moore, Louis (Karen) Meyette, and Richard (Betty) Meyette, along with her sister-in-law Cindy Meyette and brother-in-law Thomas Karbowski, will hold dear memories of their sister's love and laughter. Marjorie's presence was a cornerstone in the lives of her family members, and she will be profoundly missed. She was predeceased by her husband Donald, two sons Donald Stempek Jr, and Kendall Stempek, her two sisters Geraldine (Ben) Gombar, Diane Karbowski and a brother Roger Meyette.

A lifelong learner and an active parishioner, Marjorie found strength and solace in her faith. She was a dedicated member of Holy Trinity Parish and the St. Anne Society, where she shared her passion for community and service. Marjorie's commitment to her church family was evident through her countless hours of volunteering at the food pantry and participating in church activities. Marjorie's generous heart knew no bounds. She was renowned in her community for her dedication to helping others, whether it was through her volunteer work or the simple, everyday acts of kindness that defined her character.

She will be remembered for having a heart of gold, as she consistently put the needs of others before her own. Her zest for life was infectious, and Marjorie embraced every moment with enthusiasm. She relished her trips to the cabin in Gaylord, where she found joy in hunting and the tranquility of nature. Marjorie's love for excitement found an outlet in visits to the casino and playing cards with family and friends. She loved keeping in touch and knowing what each person was up to within the family circle.

Her hands were rarely still, as she created beautiful, crocheted pieces, a tangible expression of her love and creativity. Marjorie's commitment to civic duty was evident in her work at the Fraser Township Hall, where she served during numerous elections. She also enjoyed the camaraderie of her bowling league, where she shared many laughs and good times with close friends. Perhaps most cherished were the weekly days spent with her sisters and friends. No matter the activity, they created memories filled with joy and laughter, memories that will endure as a testament to their sisterly bond.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at 11 am from Holy Trinity Parish with Fr. Matthew Federico presiding with inurnment in St. Agnes Cemetery at a later date. Friends may visit at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 am until time of mass.
