He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Rami Pati Mitra and Maya Mitra; his spouse Andrea; his children, Robin "Robi" Mitra (Renee Brown), Neil Mitra (Brandi), Romy Tappero, Justin Tappero and Jevin Tappero; his grandchildren, Isabel Nickoloff, Amelia Nickoloff, Hugo Nickoloff, Matilda Mitra, Charlie Mitra, Tom Mitra, Stella Mitra and Liam Mitra; his siblings, Sumitra Biswas (Dilip) and Suchitra Roy (Ramendra); and his sons, Vasu, Rodgers and Royal Oak.

Visitation was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, January 18th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the A. J. Desmond & Sons (Vasu, Rodgers & Connell Chapel) (32515 Woodward Ave, Royal Oak, MI 48073).
