Michael S. Payne Obituary
Michael Steven Payne, age 71, a man of profound faith and boundless love, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024, in Rose City, Michigan. Born on July 26, 1953, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Robert H. & Norma J. (Wilde) Payne. Michael's life journey was one marked by dedication to his family, his nation, and God.
Michael proudly served his country as a United States Marine Corps Veteran, fulfilling the role of 1371 Combat Engineer within the esteemed 2nd Marine Division. His commitment to service was a testament to his strength and character. Following his military career and other career paths, Michael answered a higher calling, shepherding the Northwoods Baptist Church community as their devoted Pastor until his retirement.
An alumnus of the Ambassador Bible Institute, Michael's passion for Bible Studies was not only a personal pursuit but also a gift he shared generously with others. His teachings illuminated the lives of many, guiding them through faith's complexities with wisdom and grace. Micheal also enjoyed outdoor activities, woodworking, and astronomy.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Rita Mae (Teeples) Payne, and their children, Tasha (Troy) Hayman, Matthew (Jessica) Payne, Karista (Myron) Eads. His legacy flourishes through his 19 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren. His siblings, Victoria Payne Edmonds, Annie Payne Marsh, and Bruce Payne. He was preceded in death by his grandchildren Nathaniel Payne, Jeremy Hayman, and his brother Robert Payne.
A Graveside. Memorial will be held January 11, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Lane Heights Cemetery in Lupton, Michigan, and immediately following at his home, a Celebration of Life and faith for all to include his desire to share.
