She was predeceased by: her parents, Frederick Alchin and Emily Alchin (Holzheuer). She is survived by: her children, Sheila Bird, Sherry Sullivan (Mike), Shelley Schafer (Gary) and Shawn Kowalskee (Tim); her grandchildren, Kimmy, Veronica, Jeff, Rich, Tory, Justin, Jamie, Jeremy and Jessica; and her brother Jim Alchin (Jan). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family prefers memorial contributions be made in Silvia's name to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
