She was predeceased by: her parents, Donald Moose and Kathryn Moose (Gosney); her husband Earl Backus; and her siblings, Donald Moose and Cora "Cookie" Curry.

She is survived by: her children, Joseph Backus (Selena) of Mt. Pleasant, Gene Backus (Mary Antcliff) of Higgins Lake, James Backus of Mt. Pleasant, Jonathon Backus (Teresa Shores) of Higgins Lake and Jeffery Backus (Kari) of Roscommon; her grandchildren, Duane, Nick, Joey, James, Brandi, Amie, Chris, Beth, Chantel, Zane, Logan and Brice; her siblings, Jim Moose (Connie Wentworth) of Mt. Pleasant and Connie Bollinger (Fred) of Middleton; and her sister-in-law Judy Backus. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren.
