He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Ernest Burmester and Roseann Burmester (Ottman); his partner Chris; his children, Joshua Burmester (Bonny) of Grayling, Amy Derenzy (Spencer) of Traverse City and Katie Burmester of Brighton; his grandchildren, Allesyn VanNuck, Kaleb Burmester, Kinsey Burmester and Adeline Derenzy; and his sister Julie Barrett (Scott) of Auburn Hills.
