He was predeceased by: his parents, Cletus Jerome O'Brien and Milmer Klien O'Brien; and his siblings, Peter O'Brien, Robin O'Brien, John O'Brien and Eileen O'Brien Howell.

He is survived by: his wife Nancy; his daughters, Maggie Redden (Steve) and Cathleen O'Brien; and his grandsons, Jack and Tommy Redden.
