He was predeceased by: his parents, James Dimmitt Ligon and Mary Whitlock Ligon (Morris); his wife Elizabeth Josephine Bird (Jo); his son Russell; his grandson Benjamin; and his brother Bob.

He is survived by: his children, James Ligon (Sally), Wez Ligon, Catherine Durst, Janet McCormick (Paul), Jean Fischer (Kurt) and Scott Ligon; and his siblings, Patricia, Jean and Richard. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Memorials donations may be made to The Four County Community Foundation's, Russell W. Ligon Memorial Scholarship Fund in Jim's honor (141 S. Main Street Romeo, MI 48065.)
