He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Ernest and Marcella Ernest (Gonyea); his wife Sharon Johnson; his daughter Dannielle Ernest; and his siblings, Richard, Judy and Phyllis.

He is survived by: his daughter Michelle Thompson; his grandsons, Vance Cross (Kayla Hubbard), Nicholas Clark (Desiree) and Joseph Thompson (Heather); and his great grandchildren, Kaiden, Gavin, Autumn, Addison, Benjamin and Aubrey.
