He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Howard Thomas Hatfield and Mae Louise Hatfield; his grandson Beckham Edstrom; his significant other Margaret Hatfield (Peg); his brother Bill Hatfield (Karen Hatfield); his grandchildren, Caryn Showerman, Monica Hatfield, Jack Hatfield, Lyle Joslyn Jr., Harry Joslyn, Sawyer Edstrom, Leah Polhill and Charlotte Polhill; and also, T. J. Hatfield (Kristi Youngs), Amy Hatfield (Tom Cole), Katie Hatfield Edstrom (Jason Edstrom) and Laura Polhill (Clint Polhill).
