He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore Shafer and Margaret Shafer (Bond); his uncle John Bond; his aunt Jan Harrington; his brother Michael; his sister-in-law Debbi; his sister Coleen; his close friend Jeff Erickson; and his parents-in-law, Bill and Bernie McGee of Traverse City.
He is survived by: his brothers, Pat, Tim, Jeff Shafer and Bill Taylor; his aunts, Jenny Bond and Kathryn Downing; his uncle Carl Bond (Carolyn); and his goddaughter Helen Cullen. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
