He was predeceased by : his wife Nila Olmstead; his parents, Charles Olmstead and Mildred Olmstead Sr. (Chrysler); his brother Richard Olmstead; his son Stephen Olmstead; and his grandson Blake Anselme.

He is survived by : his children, Jeff Olmstead (Julie K.), Karen Olmstead (Bill Shane), Julie A. Olmstead, David Olmstead (Autumn Dunn) and Kristy Crysler (Doug); his grandchildren, Dan, Scott, Sara, Molly, Sam, Ben, Anna, Chloe, Dylan, Barret, Freya, Shanae, Sadie and Alexis; his great grandchildren, Quinten, Gavin, Allison, Zoey, Aurora and Ellie; and also Tracy Santure.

Visitation was held on Sunday, July 7th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Bella Vista Church (5100 Belding Rd NE, Rockford, MI 49341). A memorial service was held on Sunday, July 7th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
