He was predeceased by: his brothers, Bill and Harry Gough. He is survived by: his wife Katherine; his daughters, Deborah L. Kwapis and Kristine L. Wallace; and his sister Sue Miller (Bob). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the National Audubon Society, Cornell Lab of Ornithology, the American Lung Association, or American Diabetes Association.
