He was predeceased by: his father Thurland Johnston. He is survived by: his significant other Roxanne; his sons, Stephen Johnston (Allyson) and Tucker Hanks; his mother Gail Johnston; his siblings, Tim Johnston (Judy), Jill Benner (Devin), Scott Johnston (Rosanne) and Michael Johnston (Andrea); and his in-laws, David, Carol Hidy and Joe Hidy (Patty).

In that light, the family is recommending donations to the American Cancer Society and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
