He was predeceased by: his parents, James A. Hanes and Oletta Hanes (Doty); his daughter Jacquelyn Echmann; and his siblings, Marie Hills, Esther Hindenlang, Aldus Hanes, Trula Hill and Greta Skaags.
He is survived by: his former wife Diane Teed; his wife Diana Hanes; his children, Elaine Satterlee (Mike), Phyllis Butcher (Ray), Joann Otto (Kevin) and Robert Hanes; and his brother James Hanes (Pat). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
