He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugo Salchow and Betsy Salchow; and his brother William Salchow. He is survived by: his wife Margaret Buchannan; and his children, Wendy French (Ron), Linda Iverson (Brian), Mark Salchow (Mary), Marjorie Yokeley and Laura Davis (John). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
