He was predeceased by: his son Lawrence Messner; his wife Bernadette Irene Messner; his parents, Paul Douglas Messner and Carol Lee Messner (VanPelt); and his brother Kirk Messner (Marian).
He is survived by: his daughter Sarah Marie Messner of Memphis; his grandchildren, Aaron Paul Darling of Hazel Park, Alexander Michael Herman of Waterford and Amber Rouillard of Westland; his siblings, Daryl Messner (Vicki) of Gladwin and Holly Chirite of Hazel Park; his former wife Joanne Norwood (Rob); and his grandmother Joanne Norwood. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
