She was predeceased by: her parents, Don Thayer and Mary "" Thayer (Powell) of Missouri; and her siblings, Russ, Lloyd Thayer, Helen "Sis" Holoway and Mary Slaybaugh.
She is survived by: her sons, Steven H. Hoeksema (Kathryn) of Mt. Pleasant, Michael L. Hoeksema (Sally) of Delton, Dan T. Hoeksema (Jennifer) of Richland and Ronald A. Hoeksema (Michele) of North Carolina; and her siblings, Joyce Spencer (Bill) of Richland and John Thayer (Nancy) of Pennsylvania. She is also survived by grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Shirley's honor may be directed to Centrica Care Navigators (Hospice), The Salvation Army of Battle Creek or the Gull Lake United Methodist Church.
