He was predeceased by: his parents, Ilmari "Smudge" and Elvie Mattila (Antilla); and his brother Jay Mattila. He is survived by: his wife Julie Mattila (Jarvi); his daughter Joeylynn Mattson (Jeff) of Lake Mills; his grandchildren, Josiah Mattson, Liberty Anderson (Jacob), Havah Mattson and Samuel Mattson; his sister Jody Nepstad; his sister-in-law Donna Mattila; his nephew Leif Nepstad; and his friend Ralph Clark.
