He was predeceased by: his brother Ronnie; his mother Mary; his grandmother Laura Thorp; his father Duane; his stepmother Rowena; and his in-laws, Frank and Stella Galubenski.

He is survived by: his son James Dwain; his significant other Sharon; his daughter Jill Johnson (Rusty); his grandchildren, Kayla, Kyle, Toby and Stella; his son Jim Thorp (Jodi); his grandchildren, Brendan (Becky), Gabe, Emma, Trevor and Lily; his siblings, Joyce Tank (Rob), Allen Thorp (Marilyn), Melvin Thorp (Sandy), Elaine Darnell (Mike), Bea Stimson (Gary), Rhonda Pederson, Sherri Thorp and Raymond Thorp (Jessica); his sisters-in-law, Cathie Curry (Lyle), Jackie Galubenksi, Barb Walkiewicz and Julie Wenzlaff (Greg); and his close friend Dwain Dennis.

Parkinson's and dementia did their worst the past few years, and cancer did the rest.
