He was predeceased by: his parents, Mercedes Aguilar and Suzanna Aguilar; his children, Samuel Aquilar and Mercedes Aguilar; and his stepdaughters, Roseanna Zapata and Teresa Oceguera.

He is survived by: his former wife Rosa Garcia; his wife Lola Hayes; his children, Louie Aquilar (Jeanne), Rita Yon, Rose Lary (Joseph II), Lorenzo Aquilar Jr. (Theresa), Dolores Gillham, Anthony Aguilar (Diane), Peter Aguilar and Elisa Okkonen; and his stepchildren, Dorlyn Sandoval, Jose Sandoval, Matt Sandoval (Liz), Mark Sandoval, Lola Zaragoza, Lupe Zaragoza, Patty Chingman (Rey) and Ismail Zaragoza. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

“i will miss my awesome, incredibly talented, and gifted, uncle lawrence as my siblings and i called him, always 'uncle lawrence'. when our family built our first home uncle lawrence would leave his job with GM, stop by his home, check on things there, and then drive over to build our home. he did this for no pay but for the love of family. he was a real man's man my uncle. i'm so glad i called him on his recent birthday as i did for years. i love you and i will miss you uncle lawrence.”
