Joyce Gay Pletcher Obituary
Joyce Gay (Weatherman) Pletcher, 81 years old of Reed City, MI passed away November 20, 2022 at her residence.
She was born August 31, 1941 in Tecumseh, MI to Barney and Gwen (Boltz) Weatherman and was a 1959 graduate of Onsted, MI high school. Joyce attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor becoming an LPN and she was employed as a nurse at the Bixby Hospital in Adrian, MI and later at the Reed City Hospital in the personnel department for a number of years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing cards, and reading mystery novels by Agatha Christie, game shows (especially Wheel of Fortune), watching episodes of Columbo, and entertaining guests. Joyce was a member of First Baptist Church for many years where she served as a deaconess and taught Sunday school. She will be remembered as a warm and compassionate person.
She is survived by her husband Duane "Skip" Pletcher; sons Steven L. (Sondra) Pletcher of Dorr and Rick A. Pletcher of Reed City; and grandchildren Jeremy and Caleb Pletcher both of Dorr; two sisters Marsha Wheaton of Gaylord, MI and Joan (Jerry) Redlin of Colorado; brother and sister in law Robert (Clem) Pletcher of Alanson, MI; and aunt and uncle Linda (Jim) Progler of Adrian, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents Walter B. and Gwendolyn (Boltz) Weatherman; and her sister Freda Kane of Gaylord, MI.
Visitation will take place Sunday, November 27, 2022 from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the Pruitt-Livingston Funeral Home in Reed City.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 28, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Reed City located at 4151 Wild Turkey Trail with Pastor Rob Redlin officiating.
A private committal service will follow at the Woodland Cemetery in Reed City with Hospice Chaplin Dan Pflug graveside.
A luncheon at the First Baptist Church will be held following the return of the family from the cemetery.
