He was predeceased by: his parents, Orlin Wade Newell and Estelle Naomi Newell (Marsh). He is survived by: his brothers, Lester and Terry; his wife Phyllis Quackenbush; his children, Dennis Mark Newell of Smithfield, VA, Leon Franklin Newell of Reading and Amy Jo Newell of Seville, Spain.; and his brother James. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in David's memory to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
