He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Short and Betty Short (Blonde); his parents-in-law, Ronald and Edna Saari; his son Garry Lee Short; and his siblings-in-law, Ron Saari, Rita Saari, Robert Saari (Patty) and Kenny Saari.

He is survived by: his wife Barb; his brothers, Frank Short (Trina) and Jack Short (Deb); and his siblings-in-law, Maria Saari, Don Saari, Pat Racine (Bruce), Dave Saari (Colleen), Colleen Saari, Rick Saari (Cheryl), Dan Bowling (Liz) and Steve Saari (Denise). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
