She was predeceased by: her parents, Clarence Barnett and Verda Barnett (Gwaltney); her husband Thomas; her brother Jack; and her grandson Joseph Begley.

She is survived by: her children, Michael Hockin (Karen) of Traverse City, Todd Hockin of South Boardman, Michelle Begley (Don) of Grand Blanc and Anthony Hockin (Lisa) of Rapid City; her grandchildren, Krystina (Caleb), Amanda (Chaz), Alex (Kathryn), Lizzie (David), Michael, Rachel, Abigail, Joshua and Sophia (Joe); and her children, Honesty, Love, Hard, Friends and Faith.

In lieu of flowers: memorials can be made in Shirley's name to C.S. Motts Children Hospital Ann Arbor, MI, 777 E Eisenhower Pkwy, Ste 650 48108.
