He was predeceased by: his parents, John Hampton and Joann Hampton (Sexton); and his son Timothy Mankel. He is survived by: his wife Jackie Hampton; his children, Darlene Baker (Brad), Christopher Hampton (Shannon), Dawn Hargreaves (Collin), Tony Mankel (Tammy), Stefanie Cannon (Linwood), Makayla Hampton (Trenton Vander Kuyl) and Isaac Johnson; and his siblings, Gary Hampton, Susan Hilliker (Charles), Michael Hampton (Bobbi) and Ronald Hampton (Candy).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in loving memory of John Hampton to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
