Walter Woodruff Obituary

In accordance with Woody's wish, cremation will take place, and a family gathering will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Centrica Rose Arbor Place, c/o the funeral home.

Age 84, of Portage, passed away at Centrica Rose Arbor Place on January 22, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Woody was born in Kalamazoo, MI, on November 14, 1940, the son of the late Walter C. and Vera (Camfield) Woodruff. Woody was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was handy and, in his words, "could fix anything but a broken heart.". He worked hard to provide for his family as an auto mechanic. When not working he enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and hunting. He was a gifted woodworker and enjoyed many other hobbies. He was an avid bowler who was in many leagues. Above all he loved his family and friends, and he left many wonderful memories to be cherished. In 1959 Woody married the love of his life Yvonne "Gail" (Pelletier) Woodruff who survives. He is also survived by a son, Walter Lee Woodruff; many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Woody was preceded in passing by two children, Robert Lee Woodruff and Cindy Sue Walters.
