He was predeceased by: his wife Helen Miller; his children, Brian and Amy; his siblings, Lowell, Lillis Hunter (Coats) and Ruth Evans (Coats); and his parents, Ezra Coats and Nellie Coats (Kerr).
He is survived by: his children, John Christopher (Michael Hand) and Heather Zerban (Jason); his grandchildren, Ethan Dunlop (Grace) and Abby Dunlop; and his sister Jane Nichols (Coats).
