Age 85, of Portage, passed away Wednesday morning, July 24, 2024. Jackie was born in Angola, IN, on May 2, 1939, the daughter of Robert and Bernice (Brott) Porter. On December 20, 1958, she married Howard Quibell who preceded her in death in 2006. She was then married to Howard's best friend, John Salvaggio who preceded her in death in 2019. Jackie loved country music and dancing, especially line dancing. She also liked going on family camping trips. She was a loving mom and homemaker, and her children have fond memories of her ability to can and freeze veggies and jams. She loved playing games and cards, especially pinochle. Jackie wasn't one to sit around. She liked keeping busy with something. Eating out was a favorite thing to do especially when she and her husbands were in Florida, where they wintered. Nothing was more important to her than her family. She loved her children and grandchildren, and she will be sorely missed by all of them. Jackie is survived by her children, Penny (Anthony) Meulman of Kalamazoo, Deborah (Steven) Newhouse of Portage, Scott (Julie) Quibell of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Zackary Meulman, Rachel (Sam) Smith, Mitch (Kayla Smith) Newhouse, Evan, Erika and Ethan Quibell; great-granddaughter, Joslyn; brother-in-law, Larry (Deb) Quibell; several nieces and nephews; and countless friends. Besides her husbands, Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; two sisters; and her in-laws.
