Gordon J. Hoeksema Obituary
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023, beginning at 10:30 a.m., at Lakeland Reformed Church, 10442 S. Sprinkle Rd., Vicksburg, MI 49097; Pastor Kent Sanders officiating. Memorial contributions in Gordon's memory may be made to Lakeland Reformed Church or a charity of one's choice.
Age 84, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at his home in Portage, MI. Gordon was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on May 9, 1939, the son of the late John and Henrietta (Delang) Hoeksema. He was a former member of Faith Reformed Church and current member of Lakeland Reformed Church. He was a hard worker who retired from Alvan Motor Freight after 39 years of service. When not working, Gordon enjoyed road trips and travel, nights out to the casino, fishing and boating. Above all he loved his family and was especially proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gordon's warm smile and laughter will be missed by all who loved him. On September 26, 1958, he married Sandra (Jacobitz) Hoeksema who preceded him in passing in 2018. Gordon is survived by two daughters, Sue (Ken) Griffioen and Linda Hoeksema; grandchildren, Rebecca (David) Archer and John (Scott Hammer) Griffioen; four beloved great-granddaughters, Abigail, Ellie, Nora and Eva Archer; nieces, nephews and friends. He was also preceded in passing by three siblings, Don, Harry and Carolyn.
