David J. Thomas Obituary
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. noon at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home, 917 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo. Friends may call on the family on Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Centrica Care Navigators or SPCA of Southwest Michigan, in c/o the funeral home.
Age 56, of Portage, passed away early Tuesday morning, July 23, 2024. David was born in Detroit, MI, on September 26, 1967, the son of Nancy Smith. He moved to Portage MI for work and met Jodi in September, 2003. He then married the love of his life, Jodi on June 21, 2018. They had a wonderful 20 years together, and 6 years married. David spent most of his life working doing drywall finishing. He loved spending time with his family. No matter what walk of life you met David at you got a shit talking, sarcastic, goofy guy. He loved playing his video games, Call of duty and WarHawk were the games he played the most, and he was amazing at them. He played a casino game on his phone a lot that didn't actually make him any money because it was fake cash he won but he loved it anyway. He actually played it during his vow renewal with Jodi. He also loved to watch WWE with his friend, Kyle. He liked to dance to some hip hop or rock music. He did a goofy little dance with his arms most of the time. He enjoyed taking his wife and kids on yearly camping trips. He didn't enjoy taking them to dinner as much because he had 4 kids and he spent $100 or more each time. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, his pride and joy. Besides his wife, David is survived by his children, Dominic (Ashley) Thomas, Samantha (Dylon) Blair, Virginia (Dylan) Britten, Amanda (Caleb) Thomas, Scott Newell; grandchildren, Anna, Jazmine, Jacob, Parker, Galileo, Amellia. mother, Nancy Cain; siblings, Dinah (Dave) Strunk, Sheilah (Kenny) Lockwood, Danny (Lisa) Thomas, Valerie Wildbahn; mother-in-law, Sharon Krohn; sister-in-law, Deb Thomas; several brothers-in-law; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. David was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Thomas; grandson, Lyric Rabb; father-in-law, Gerald Krohn, and his precious dogs Mena, Shadow, Lacey, Izzy, and Chloe.
