He was predeceased by: his parents, Wendell E. Gearig and Bernadine Gearig (Eagle); and his sister Carolyn Nafziger. He is survived by: his wife Mary Jo (Conrad); his children, Wendy Johnston (Bill) and David Gearig (Christine); his grandchildren, Breanne Kern (Peter), Lindsey Johnston (Patrick Henderson), Savannah Scinta (Tony), Nicholas Johnston (Sarah), Justin Gearig (Kinzie), Timothy Gearig (Sydney) and Samuel Gearig (Kali); and his great grandchild Maisy Jo Gearig.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 19th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services (3926 S 9th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009). A reception will be held on Saturday, April 19th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes - Westside Chapel (3926 S 9th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009).
