He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Simmons and Mary Simmons; and his brothers, Gordon and Harold. He is survived by: his wife Mary; his children, Mary Kay Tuckfield (Mark), Steven Simmons (Jane), Therese Simmons, Christopher Simmons (Michelle) and Marie Warner (Edward); his sister Delores "Dee"; and his pet Lola. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren.
He belonged to the Fort Gratiot Burtchville Lions Club and collected plastic to make benches that the club donated throughout the community.
