He was predeceased by: his parents, Vinnie Sr and Jesse Bennett, Sr; his grandparents, Rosie Sr, Sammie Scott, Sr. and Willie Meredith; his aunt Eula Scott Hester of Catherine Scott; and his uncles, John Scott and Donald Birdsong.

He is survived by: his significant other Gregg Woods; his siblings, Jesse Jr., Marvin Bennett, Annette Settles (Alphonso), Delores Bennett and Jerome Bennett; and his aunts and uncles, Bessie (Tommy), Doris, Annie, Pearlean (Eddie), Gloria (Johnny), Eliza (Allen), Louise, Mary, Sofia, Percy (Wanda), Sammie and Charles (Bertha).
