He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Heitjan and Susan Heitjan of Pontiac, MI.. He is survived by: his wife Mary O'Connor Heitjan; his children, Joseph "Fritz" Heitjan III (Norma), Kate Kleber (Joseph), Anne Bates (Bradley) and Matthew Heitjan; his grandchildren, Anne Kleber, William Kleber and Katherine Bates; and his siblings, Mary Streasick (Gerald), Kathleen Yazbak (Najib) and Paul Heitjan (Kathleen).
Visitation was held on Wednesday, November 13th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Raphael Catholic Church (18440 Cadillac Hwy, Copemish, MI 49625). A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, November 13th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, November 13th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Benzonia Township Cemetery.
