He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Bender and Katie Bender; and his brothers, Norris and Ronnie Bender. He is survived by: his wife Zora Bender; his children, Kenneth Lamont Bender (Marilyn), Kenetra Tisby (Larry, Jr.) and Kendra Cody (Jonathan); his grandchildren, Dequan Walker, Arjanai Bolton (Kris) and KeMonty Bruce; and his sister Rita Gail Bender-Glenn. He is also survived by other grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren.

The lying in state was held on Friday, November 15th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM and from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home (268 North Perry St, Pontiac, MI 48342). Visitation was held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church (458 Central Ave, Pontiac, MI 48341). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
