He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernlin Varney and Pearl Varney (Hensley); his wife Cleo J. Varney; his children, Larry Varney and Jeannette Varner; and his siblings, Bill Varney, Charles Varney (Doreen) of Elmer, JB, Elmer Varney (Goldie), JB Varney and Leon Varney.
He is survived by: his children, David Varney, George W. Varney Jr., Rena Bere (Shawn) and Barb LaBean (Jon Pankey); his grandchildren, Larry Jr., Kathleen, Jessica, Crystal of Joshua, AJ, Kaylynn, Brianna and Jeremy; his great grandchildren, Carmen, Matthew and Madison; his siblings, Rita Getchey and David Varney; his children-in-law, Randy Varner and Kathy Varney; and his sister-in-law Shirley Varney.
Visitation was held on Monday, February 10th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Nie Family Funeral Home, Janowiak Chapel (320 N Washington St, Ypsilanti, MI 48197). A funeral service was held on Monday, February 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, February 10th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Union-Udell Cemetery (9742 Textile Rd, Ypsilanti Charter Twp, MI 48197).
